Discovery Science
Center
There is this Discovery Science Center. On one side, there is a big cube. This cube is
actually solar panels which provides energy for the center. The Science Center is 2 stories.

The first floor exhibits are: weather, mummies, the theme for Halloween, a really cool "wall
of pins", a bed of nails and a rock climbing wall. The rock wall was just a small wall that
you climbed up then climbed around, you didn't need to be harnessed.

In the pyramid of the Mummies, there are different activities such as building a pyramid and
wrapping a mummy. At the entrance, there was an activity booklet. In the little booklet
there were symbols so you could decode the hidden words inside the pyramid. Such as an
R was an egg shape, an O was like a beetle, and the Y is like a pyramid. Oh and here is a
mummy joke: What happens to a sick Mummy? He starts coffin!
Do you get it?

On the second floor there is air and space, virtual volley ball, 3D Mummy Maze and other
various experiments.

The virtual volleyball was so cool. It is a green screen, like they use in the movies and you
see yourself on the TV screen on a beach volleyball court. You play volleyball by looking at
the screen. Taylor Rae and I played at least 5 games total. We even beat our parents once.

There was also a 3D Mummy Maze. The effects of the 3D glasses were so cool it looked
like the things were popping out of the wall.

There were other different experiments, like you threw the ball and radar measured how
fast your sped is. My average speed is 22 miles per hour. There is also a counter that
measures how quick your reflexes are by hitting "Start" then waiting until the lights come on
then hitting the stop button. It recorded your speed. I got it down to 0.08. (It is just like the
games you play at West Edmonton Mall and Chuck E. Cheese). Another experiment
measures your strength. You squeezed two metal bars together and it tells you your
strength. I got to 43 and my dad got 111! There is also a machine that when you stood on
the foot prints, it would tell you your height, I am 4 foot 10.

There was also a quiz to see how much you knew about Mars. Out of the 10 questions, I
got 8 questions right! Since I got 8 out of 10, I was a Mars Cadet!

I had lots of fun there. My mom also bought us a membership for a full year! The
membership is good for other science centers and museums across the United States!

My favorite part was the Virtual Volley Ball and the rock wall on the first floor.

This is a pulley ride that you have to pull your self up.
The different amount of pulleys was how had it was. The
one with the least amount of pulleys was the hardest.
This is what I looked like when my dad
pushed me through the pin wall. They were
plastic pins so it didnt hurt.
This is the pyramid we built
with styrophome blocks.
This is when I wrapped a mummy.
